The location of Florence Nightingales first hospital in London.

Location: 90 Harley Street, Marylebone

Description: In August 1853 influential nurse Florence Nightingale became the Lady Superintendent The Institute for the Care of Sick Gentlewomen in Chandos Street on condition that she would be allowed to reorganise the nursing home and also use it as a training school for nurses.

By August 1853 they moved to this townhouse over 3 storeys and attic and a basement - comprising of 20 beds. She installed a hot water supply to all floors, and a windlass for bringing hot food from the basement kitchen. She changed the grocer, the coal merchant and had the kitchen range replaced.

Having instituted these reforms, Florence Nightingale departed for the Crimea in October 1854.
